Founded in Orono, ME by Ruth & Dr. Joe Sataloff, collectors who saw the need for a forum where peoople who wanted to learn about jewelry could assemble and share their passion at a remote pastoral site. Today, "Jewelry Camp" as it has been affectionately labeled, is conceived and exe cuted by Joyce Jonas, Director since 1993. Expanding the course in scope of jewelry fields and the decorative arts. The Conference annually explores jewelry history from ancient to modern, from the magnificent to the mundane, in the context of the social, political and economic events that affected its evolution and connection to fashion and design. Amy Lawch, GG, ISA is a member of the faculty.
